Songs pre-loaded on 1gb clip?

I just bought a Sansa clip 1gb.  It seemed like it was factory sealed but when I opened it, charged it and turned it on, there were a few songs already downloaded on it.  I was curious if these were pre-loaded songs or if I was sold a used unit?
