I purchased a WD my passport 0740 disk about a year ago. After 13 months of using it without problems the disk was not recognized anymore and windows asked to format it. After recovering essential data from the disk using a specialized program I reformatted the disk (first in NTFS and afterwards in FAT32).
Since then, the speed of the disk is very slow (around 1.5mb/s of transfer speed) after I connect it to a computer.
I have noticed that the speed increases significatnly to around (10mb/s) after the disk went into cooldown / sleep…
Does anyone have any idea why the spead increased after the disk goes into cooldown / sleep and how whether there is a possibility of fixing a kind of setting so that the disk immediatly has that speed after connecting it to a computer?
