Sansa Fuze+

Folder browsing, as implemented on the earlier Fuze, and Clip+, wasn’t taken out from the Fuze+ capabilities, it has not been implemented on the new device.

The Fuze+ is, obviously, a new platform, and it has a new processor.  It handles things differently than the previous device.  There is no official word as yet, regarding the addition of a folder mode capability for the Fuze+.  Folder browsing was not implemented on the original Fuze originally either.

I agree, folder mode can be quite handy.

How do I view Chinese on Sansa Fuze+?

語言選擇在設定裡菜單。

Hold the upper left “button” for three seconds to return to the main menu level.  Scroll all the way to the right to the settings menu option, and click on the center button.

Scroll midway down the list of options to language.  You will find Chinese at the bottom level of the language list.  I don’t read Chinese, but there are several Asian languages listed at the end.  I’d have a task ahead if I happened to select one, getting back to English.  The new device has quite a few available languages.

The main menus do look quite interesting in Cyrillic characters, at least I can fudge my way back from there.

OK. U say that ppl aren’t away from AC power 4 a certain amount of time. U r right. However, unless u purchase the AC adapter, u have 2 get 2 a computer in order 2 charge the battery. Not always so convenient.

According 2 the users manual, the battery isn’t replacable, so having extra batteries obviously not an option.

I can’t imagine that a longer life battery would cause the unit 2 have 2 b thicker in order 2 accomodate a longer life battery. All they have 2 do is use a battery that is the same size w/a longer life battery just like they have w/laptops.

With reliable AC adaptor/chargers available for $10 (or less) nowadays, there’s really no excuse for not having one. Convenience issue solved.

Which SoC is used in Fuze+?

In old Fuze it’s AMS AS3525.

The Fuze+ uses a new Freescale processor.

my fuze+ shut down as if the battery was dead so i pluged in to charge but nothing happened. computers don’t even read that it is pluged in. what is wrong with my fuze?!?!?!?!?!

Time for a reset.  Press and hold the power button for 20 seconds, release, then try powering up again- or in your case, go ahead and plug in to the USB port for a recharge.

The Fuze+ has a brief delay when plugging in to power, about 5-8 seconds before the display lights up.

Like other Sansa models, the processor handles all operations including USB communication and charging.  If the processor freezes, the player will “play possum” until reset as above.

thanks bob! that did the trick!

Love the new firmware update that moves control of locking and unlocking the touchpad to the power button!

I was getting mighty tired of the thing constantly unlocking when I put it in my pocket.

Help!  I didn’t see the info on the lock change after I downloaded the firmware update.  Can someone please just tell me what I need to do?  I agree that the former locking method was totally unsatisfactory!

Thanks so much!

Thanks so much for your quick reply about the new lock method – excellent!

I have had my SansaFuse+ for a few months and still having hard time with navigation.  Very disappointed.

I have an 8GB micro SD card and i want to put it in my 8GB Sansa Fuze+ but when i put it in it loads the card for a minute or so then completely shuts off and restarts. Why is it doing this and what can I do about it? An answer would be much appreciated!

For maximum exposure to your problem (and to those who might be able to help), I’d suggest starting your own thread, with a more descriptive subject line.

Had the device for 7 months now.  Still hate the touch controls.  Still hate the ridiculously sluggish performance.  Still hate that it takes so long for start up each time that I forget about it and it shuts itself off from idling before I remember what I was waiting for.  Still hate that the back button often takes me all the way back to the useless coverflow main menu instead of the previous screen.  Still hate that it sometimes freaks out and emits a loud buzzing noise during playback from files on my SD card.

Its been close to three months since the last firmware update, and if the next one doesn’t fix some of these fundamental problems, I’m putting it up for sale (although I will feel guilty taking someone’s money for this junky failure of electronics) and putting the money toward a Zen Touch 2.

I was thinking the same thing as sabina…at almost the same time.  However, I am waiting until it’s actually been 3 months (less than 2 weeks away) since the last update and if there is no update, I will try to sell it.  But who will buy it, and for what price?  I bet I can’t get but $50 for it.

I was thinking of getting a Cowon instead of a Zen though.

I even hate to say this, but I might just go cheaper and get a Clip+.  Few people have the complaints about it that we have about the Fuze+.
