Sansa Fuze Firmware Update version 01.01.22 & 02.01.17

The firmware update

Extract the .zip file into a folder on your computer.
• Once extracted, drag the file to the root directory of your Sansa Fuze

Ah Ha Now you can make some progress. Go to your My Computer and open the fuze like a flash drive. If you dont have an SD card then this first level (Right after you open the fuze) is where you want to paste the firmware. If you have an SD card make sure its in the internal memory (On the first level {right after opening the internal memory})

Yes it does, thank you very much. I appreciate your time.

I’d like to report a bug, don’t know if someone has had this problem already, but here goes:

Every x number of song skips (that’s how it seems to happen, anyway), a song will play at FULL BLAST for a few seconds, and then become normal. Lowering the volume doesn’t change the actual volume when the problem is occurring, so I have to unplug my earphones to avoid ear damage. It’s getting kind of annoying. I have a pink 4gb fuze with a 1 gb card and firmware version 1.01.22A.

Yep, someone (actually several someones) has. There are a couple of thread on the subject. Here’s one:

Here’s another:

I believe they are working on a fix in the next firmware update, but I couldn’t find confirmation of that at the moment.

nice update, any chance of a game in the next firmware. such as a tetris clone.

Can the sansa fuse play music while chargeing? I cant figure out how to?

Gamse have been mentioned several times, and have as much oposition as support (I For one DONT WANT THEM). As for playing while you charge, If you get your AC adapter to work, then yeah but if its hooked to the computer sorry no.

FUZE_Newb - Your ‘n00bness’ is showing! Please read and/or search before posting.

This has been documented numerous times, probably even in this 23-page thread!

A search taking less than 10 seconds of your time would most assuredly find the answer for you.

“1st Quarter of 2009”

Firstly, This new member chose his name himself. He freely admits he is a ‘newb’. All I did in my reply was change the spelling to ‘n00b’ as is very common in forums and boards all over the internet. No insult was meant! All new members are even classified as ‘newbies’ here on this forum. I have no control over that and it is not a derogatory term!

It will be by the end of March. Many are hoping by the end of this month.

SanDisk wont set a date until the bugs are worked out, and they know what to expect

Hey!

Just returned to this thread (for the 1st time since my post back on 02-02-2009).

In my defense -

I was seeking ‘the latest’ date on the next firmware release,

so a search for a previously posted answer to my question would not have yielded the most current answer.

No worries, Tapeworm!

Glad to see you back F_N , and that you didn’t take offense at my previous response (unlike some others who did). None was intended. Everybody starts out as a Newb (or N00b).

But how exactly does “by the end of March” tell you anything different than “1st Quarter of 2009” as quoted by Sansafix (resident SanDisk firmware developer) here or here?

Sorry, I guess I could’ve linked to these posts with the ‘official’ answer before, but I had other things on my plate at the time.

Anyway, welccome back to the forum. Please feel free to post if you have any other questions or problems.

It doesn’t… (I quoted Conversionbox for the benefit of anyone just joining the thread)

Also, at the time of my post back on 2-2-09, I was ‘fishing’ for something more specific and current than the “1st Quarter of 2009.”

Has Sandisk found a fix for Sansa Fuze turning white and no way to reset or fix even after formatting and updating the firmware?

Hi Guys,

haven’t been here for a while, actually since I downloaded the update and commended Sansa on the sleep timer.

Only later I found out that it is not possible anymore to page through the files of an audio book while listening. You know what I am talking about? When you are listening to music a short press left or right takes you to the next or previous song/file.This is how it was with the previous firmware in audiobook, too.

Now, you have to “Pause”, then hold the left or right button and page through the files in “fast” mode. If you want to change just 1 file you are in trouble.(or at least you need a darn good timing)

Anyone else notice that and is there a fix for it?

Otherwise, gents and lasies, I must say the Fuze is the best thing since sliced bread… Am glad I never followed the ipod hype!!!

I just did the Firmware update  from 2…09   to 2…17    It says it is complete and to unplug to finish.  I did that and then check the version # and it is still   .09

I have tried it 3 times.  It writes to the device as it is updating, but the updates seem to “disappear.”   What am I doing wrong?

Try Just doing a manual install. If thats what you are doing make sure you put it in the right place.

Not sure how to do a manual install.  I am using the Sansa Firmware installer.  How do I do a manual install?  If I don’t do a manual install, is there something else I need to be doing with the installer to get the update to “stick”?

Nope. Ther Manual Install instructions are in the fisrt post of this thread.

Have you tried sliding the on button to the on position and holding it there until it reboots?  Works for me.

When I try to drag the fuzpa.bin file to the root directory (labeled Internal Memory) it won’t let me.  I see the old one there, but it won’t let me drag it.  It is acting like “Internal Memory” is not a folder that can be dragged to.  I drag things all the time loading the player, and I have created folders in the root directory, but it won’t let me drag this file there.  Any suggestions?

Internal memory is not the root directory. drag the file in the vicinity of those folders but not into a specific folder

I was able to drag the Firmware update file (fuzpa.bin) to the root directory.  It asked if I wanted to replace the previous version, I said yes and it copied the file.  I unplugged the device and nothing happened.  I checked the version number and it is still the old version.  I check file properties and it is still the old version.  It specifically asks me if I want to replace the old version with the new version, I say “yes” and it shows the file copying, but when I check the file properties it still has the modified date of the old version.

What am I doing wrong?
