Sansa Fuze Firmware Update 01.02.31 & 02.03.33

is there any other differences  ?!

Volume control (Europe’s level is lower & there’s no HIGH setting) is the main difference, although there may may language supprt differences as well. Plus, FM frequencies are different, but this is usually compensated for in the FM Radio settings.

thank u very much

I have the Griffin dock, it works with the fuze.

Hi, is it possible to undo this? I’d like to reset the mp3 player to a previous update (not the factory settings…) because the low volume really bothers me. For some music, it’s good and I never put the volume on max anyway, but, for some older songs it’s just way too low and I can barely hear them (and I have a lot of those). So, basiclaly I just want to undo this update.

Well how strange. I just installed the latest build of Rockbox, and now miraculously it’ll play through my dock (using Sansa firmware only)!  It’s weird how the version of Rockbox has an affect on the player’s output regardless of which firmware is being used - it was definitely not working before - and now it is. Still, at least now I can use my dock for more than just recharging.

can somebody help me my sansa fuze plays music but when you go to the main menu it freezes what should i do

You could go to the first post in this incredibly long thread and reinstall the software manually. Download the All Regions link, unZip it, find FuzeA.bin and drag-and-drop it onto the Fuze internal memory, the driveletter that shows up in Windows Explorer.

You could also try removing the most recent album(s) you have added. They may have bad tags that are making the Fuze unhappy. Search for mp3tag in the forums for how to fix them.

There is also the nuclear solution: formatting and starting over. Making sure first that you have copies of all your music, photos, videos, etc. elsewhere, because they will be erased. Then use the Format command under Settings/System Settings to erase everything on the Fuze. Reload your stuff a few albums at a time, and test after reloading for problems.

hello. I have updated my version 1 fuze to 01.02.31. Now, i’ve read about the known issue of the “refreshing your media” bar not scaling with time. But exactly how long must i wait for it to finalize the procedure? I just put 4.11gb on my 8gb card into the fuze and have waited with it for over 20 minutes now. How long is it going to take for it complete the build list? Since i cant tell anything due to the progress bar not working, how long should i wait? This is crazy, this type of thing shouldnt have been allowed as an update to go out to consumers when it breaks an important part of the features like this. I dont know whether to shut it off or let it drain the battery simply because i have no idea how far along it is.

It should take less than 5 minutes to do a complete database refresh. Unless, your files have bad (or wrong format) ID3 tags, in which case, it could freeze up indefinitely.

Our older Fuze 2 has firmware v.02.03.33 A.

We just got a second Fuze v.2. It has firmware 02.03.33P. However the Sandisk firmware website links to the older firmware.

Does anyone know where we can download the newer V. 02.03.33P firmware?

Thank you!

They are the same firmware…set to different regions.

P is probably not later than A, but made for a different region of the world. (Pacific, maybe?)

If the unit works, and things like the tuning steps on the FM radio are correct, don’t worry about it.

If the FM radio is odd, then download All Regions from the first post here–which may be what A stands for–and then unzip it, drag FuzeA.bin over to the driveletter for Sansa Fuze and it will install when you unplug.

But if it’s working, just leave it alone.

A = America

P = Pacific (as in Asia)

As previously noted, the firmware is the same; it’s just tweaked for different geographical regions.

Thanks Marvin_Martian, Black-Rectangle, and Tapeworm.

I had assumed it was a newer release.

Any clues about what is different beside the Volume limiting (European versions, as I recall) and the FM frequency steps?

I’m just wondering if white screen is firmware bug or not ? I have v2 version, usually after long charging (screen turns off) is withie screen - then I have to press power button for 30s

It is so annoying…

Yes, it happens widely. C’est le Fuze.

The “regions” are just the letters on the end of the first part of the name before the dot (.) . You can rename it and get a different region. It’s discussed on the rockbox wiki IIRC. I did it myself… not all letters work of course. One of them is a “debug” region.

I just downloaded the last firmware version, but hte option of the volume has completely disappeared. Is there any way to get the volume higher than the settled one?

But when I check for the factory setting reset it gives me only the option ‘yes’ or ‘not’
