Sandisk is selling the clip plus on their website. I know this because I just bought one on my credit card and subsequently cancelled my order. What they don’t tell you is that the product has not even been released for sale yet according to the customer service rep I talked to. He said they had no date when it would be available either. BestBuy.com is selling it as well but they list it as “backordered”. It is not backordered it is not even on the market yet. What a lame practice selling a product and advertising it when it’s not even available yet at least here in the USA. Then when I cancelled my order I was told they may not be able to cancel it. You call this customer service Sandisk???
Relax. The clip+ is a brand new product. There are going to be some lapses in availabilty. Sansafix himself said that it doesn’t offically go on sale until 9-15. I ordered one, but don’t expect it to ship until 9-15 at the earliest.
As good as the clip+ is, I don’t mind the wait.
Ok the plot thickens. I was told earlier today the product was not released by a Sandisk Customer Service Rep nor could they give me a release date. Now I get an email the very same day saying my Clip+ has shipped via UPS and will arrive 9-03-09. Apparently their customer service is clueless about this new product. I just hope it works because trying to send it back will be a nightmare with this kind of service. I had an old model clip and it was one great little player…I can only hope the new model is even close in performance and durubility.

I am sorry but selling a product before it’s even released is false advertising and just plain deceptive no matter how good is the product. The least they could have done was mention this was a “pre” order on their online store. As far as being a better product it is the the exact same product as the old in functionality with only MicroSD memory capability added.

We were informed via this forum, that the clip+ wouldn’t be for sale until 9-15. There are plenty of more upgrades than just the microsd slot to the clip+.
Seems like you just want to pick a fight. I’m very pleased with Sandisk’s improvements to the clip and their policies all around.

I wouldn’t suspect any deviousness, here. The Sansa online store has had problems in the past … I think they just don’t do a good job of keeping it updated or accurate.

Best for you, may not be best for me. Some people like myself would not frequent a BB if it were the last store on earth. I don’t need instant gratification. I can wait for my nice delivery person to hand it directly to me in a matter of days.
Also, I wasn’t interested in a 2 or 4 GB model. I was only interested in the 8 GB; which at this point BB apparently isn’t going to handle.

Just got mine from Sansa, so it’s released.
A very nice improvement on the original. Feels like a much higher quality item. The SDHC card is a HUGE plus. All in all, great stuff.
I do kinda wish the actual clip was still removeable, but that’s a nit.

I spoke with product management today and the Clip+ is available now at the online SanDisk store and in BestBuy and will be available at other retail stores 9/15. Sorry for the confusion as I know this is a highly anticipated product.

I am not sure where you people are getting your information about all the upgrades to this unit. I am reading directly from the literature on the Sandisk Website about the clip + and there is no mention of any innovative technology other than some cosmetic changes and the relocation of the power button. It is the exact same audio chip used in the old Sansa Clip according to documentation. Please tell me where you got your information about any other technical improvements. I have read several reviews and they pretty much back up what I just said. I am sorry if you can’t stand anyone with a differing opinion than yours rocking the Sandisk Groupie apple cart. I stated facts that I have read and all you are doing is getting caught up in the advertising hype of the product.
As far as reading the other posts no I did not. Why would I read a bunch of silly posts. Heck 99% of the people don’t even know this site exists. I went right to the Sandisk website and took my information there. Nobody comes to an obscure message board for information. When the company says a product is available and is selling it online it should be available. It wasn’t. My only purpose here was to comment on the poor lack of coordination in the product release. I read people saying now that it is for sale BestBuy.com. It is clearly labelled as “backordered” on that website and not available. How the one gentleman said he purchased one there is beyond me. He obviously bought the older model not the new + model.

Bash me all you want but the fact is Sandisk hyped and sold this new product before it’s time. It was not ready for release and they started selling it already. There was no mention of it being back ordered or not being released yet when you purchased it on their website. That is just plain deception. Would you pay for a new car and then let the dealer tell you well we don’t know when or if we can get it to you but give us your money anyway??? I think not! Yeah, if the unit is so hard to get, why does Miikerman have one? I ordered mine via the Sandisk store late yesterday and it shipped already.
It may not cure cancer, but it is a nifty audio player…
hy_tek, you seem to think that all innovation comes in hardware. The Clip+ is an improvement over the Clip due to, yes, the microSDHC slot, but also functionality provided by the firmware.

How are all of my favorite, techno-nerds, is it? I am glad to see you here on this obscure never-visited forum too. Try going to the main forum page, and look at the numbers, guests and members. I have seen the guests column at times well over a thousand, a few times approaching almost twice that, as in last years holiday season.
So much for the idea of an obscure company-sponsored forum site. This forum helps a very large number of customers. It’s those very same customers who take the time to share their experiences, helping others.
The Clip plus is already in the wild. I’ll hold some up to the screen for you to see, perhaps…well, I need a cool webcam. I can see it now, a “what’s playing on Bob’s Sansas right now” page. Well, maybe not, on second thought, that might be absurdly boring.
The official release date is later this month, technically giving retailers a chance to stock the new Sansas. If a shop has them, I don’t think anyone is going to question why they might let you purchase one early. A sale is a sale, and they would love to make you happy. That is, unless you haven’t read a newspaper in the last fiscal year.
Users have been waiting patiently for features like gapless, implemented on the new device first. And let’s not forget the cool new µSD expansion slot, and an improved rear clip. Oh, and the new cool display “wipe”. I prefer the round button (illuminated) on the original Clip. The oddball power switch has been improved with a pushbutton. New things to get used to!
