Probably that little swim in salt water shorted it out. 2 days really isn’t long enough for it to adequately air-dry and you should have given it a rinse in distilled water first to wash out all the salt and corrosive minerals present in sea water. Then, after shaking out as much water as possible (or ideally taking the casing apart), sealing it up in a bag with a desiccant like plain white rice for a week, or leaving in to air-dry in the sun (bringing it in at night) might ■■■■ all the moisture out of it.
Then you’re safe in trying to turn it on. No guarantees it will, but you would have given it the best chance.
hmm i see:/ so can we say that my clip is completely dead?
Carefully pry the unit apart and take a look at the battery leads. You could also clean thing up at same time if need be.
Thank youvery much i’ll lead your advice.Let’s see what happens
Rats, so far none of these work for me. I even tried unplugging it with the screen frozen in hopes that battery would die and then when recharge it work again. No luck. I imagine no place to get one of these “fixed”?
My trusty Clip worked for about 18 months, but still, it doesn’t seem like tese things should go ahead and die. Any chance these innards have an SD flash card that I could just remove and then insert into another device to read my playlist?
Any other ideas? I’m desperate.
Thanks kmc2005… These steps worked for me perfectly.

Turn off your Sansa by pushing the Power button (left side) UP and holding for about 10 seconds.
-
Once it has powered down, push the Power button DOWN to the lock position.
-
Press and hold the center button WHILE plugging your Sansa into your USB cable.
