SanDisk Ultra Flair 64GB 'Unusable' despite being Duly Formatted immediately after Purchase

Hello!

Bought the SanDisk Ultra Flair 64GB on April 20, 2025, and formatted it as soon as the product reached me. This evening, the same USB stick was not recognised by Win10, and the ‘list volume’ of ‘cmd’ showed it as ‘Unusable’.

As such, I am requesting your assistance to repair the product if possible, as I am not interested to buy another USB stick.

Finally, please note that professionally, I remain far away from the world of ‘Command prompts and the likes’ and technical advice sounds all Greek to me. Therefore, if you prefer to, please leave advice in a way which might be easy to follow even for a layman.

I would be attaching a few images displaying my amateurish adventure on the subject.

Thnks in advance, and
Regards.

@Bodhis since you are already in DiskPart and Volume 6 selected.

  1. Type clean
  2. Run list disk again to make sure disk now shows proper amount of space
  3. Open Disk Management
  4. Click on the USB drive and select “create simple volume”
  5. Click next
  6. select maximum size available
  7. Choose a drive letter (usually use the first available one)
  8. Click next
  9. Select format, leave default values
  10. Click finish
  11. Process starts
  12. Once complete the drive will be visible in Windows

Thank you !

The solution helped me to bring the USB stick back to life, and I thoroughly enjoyed doing the stuff myself with your sincere and detailed guidance.

I learnt a lot and thanked you innumerable times for such helpful guidance !

However, there are two updates (unsure about the level of importance), as follows:
A) After re-inserting the stick (once I ejected that upon completion of the above-mentioned process by clicking ‘Safely Remove Hardware and Eject Media’ from the Taskbar), on Windows Explorer, the drive letter automatically altered to ‘F:’, which was not chosen in Disk Management (I chose ‘A:’, the first letter in the dropdown menu),

B) Now, since the last nearly half an hour, clicking the ‘Safely Remove Hardware’ on the Taskbar has been resulting in a pop-up msg stating ‘Device cannot be removed as it is being used by another programme.’,

C) While typing the above, five minutes ago, finally, ‘Safely Remove Hardware’ allowed to remove the stick.

Regards.
