request: batching option

it would be nice to have a batching option within the songs, albums, artists sections where the songs, album, artist are batched 0-9, a-d, e-h, etc instead of me having to do an endless scroll to get to a song that start’s with a 'y; or an artist that starts with ‘s’ or or even a letter in the middle of the alphabet. also why wasn’t the scroll wheel created to scroll z-a, z-0 (zero) and 0-z instead of just 0-z?

try mp3tag

i just finished this weekend with 6300 audio files(songs) sorted by approx 128 chapters(albums) in different folders.

i did this in msc mode and drop and drag the files (in windows explorer) over to the fuze and 16gb card…was easier than using wmp11 synch .  i experimented with one or two groups at a time and then looked at them on the fuze to see if thats how i wanted them…if not i deleted and went back to mp3tag and experimented again…till i got it how i wanted it.

i was able to highlight groups and change album, genre, etc to my preferences for sorting and organizing how i wanted it to read .

there’s probably alot more i could do with it…just learning myself…hope this helps you some.

read alot of the forums…good info out there…and the guru’s help alot too.

The scroll wheel does wrap around from Z to A. Maybe you still have an older firmware where it doesn’t scroll? As far as the song list, I have never scrolled through the song list…I shorten the process by going to artist then album first…easy as pie :wink:

With the latest firmware, you will have accelerated, and also wraparound scrolling.

 Yet another rockbox feature.

saw that i can now reverse the wheel but still slightly annoying not as bad but still would like the batching option. as far as rockbox didn’t see that option available plus they currently don’t have anything for the fuze unless i misread. oh well.

Batching has been requested before but Sandisk has never made a comment one way or the other. As for rockbox… there are those among us who have installed it on their players, but its not official and rather risky.
