Dear Friends:

I use the SanDisk SDHC 16G for my Nikon DSLR camera. 

After taking some pictures, I imported many (but not all) of the photos to my MacBookPro’s iPhoto. 

After iPhoto advised that the photos were imported, I was asked if it’s ok to delete. I clicked “yes”. 

The photos were deleted but they were not imported. Surely they are not yet lost with the proper recovery method/software. 

What recovery tool/software/method should I use?

in that case where the card is still detected by the device you can use a recovery software like recuva or rescue pro that is recommended by sandisk to recover your files from the card

You may try to recover deleted photos from SDHC card with some recovery programs if your deleted photos are not overwritten by new data.  I used  Any Data Recovery pro  to recover my lost photos on my memory card last time, it recovered most of my deleted files. You can try it from Here.

REcommend you easeus data recovery wizard, good at recover lost data from camera, you can use the free edition, recover 2Gb at most.
