Problem with WD My passport Elements. PC require format

Hi,

When I connect my external HD into an usb port (same computer as usual), windows shows a message that If I want to work with this device I have to format this device.

Western Digital Data Lifeguard Diagnostic, shows “PASS” in “Smart Status” in the “Physical Drive” section but in the “Logical Drive” section the unit has no info (file system, total space and free space are empty).

I want to recover the data before I’ll try to format this unit.

Try a different USB cable or perhaps a different computer as well, hope this helps you out.
