WD External MyPassport Break down

Dear Admin,

First of all, I would like to appologize for my bad english.

Secondly, I  would like to explain to you the problems that I am facing. The external hard drive that I used was still in a very good shape yesterday until then, when I plugged in my external hard drive (My Passport ) it came up to me that I needed to format my harddrive. For me, I don’t mind to format my hard drive. However, I can’t format the hard drive as my laptop don’t show the disk drive [for example (E:)] on My Computer.

What should I do? Is it time to change ones? Cause for me, my harddrive don’t have any blepping sound like most of the spoilt hard drive. So if you could help me out it much appreciated. Thanks.

And btw, if i want to repair my hard drive. Could you suggest WD data recovery place for me. Currently, I am staying in Malaysia.

Thanks.

Chris

Hi Chris, it is provable that some of your files are corrupted and the PC has problems reading your Passport, as a troubleshooting step connect the Passport directly to the PC, avoid using USB extension cables or USB hubs. If the problem continues you should be able to find your Passport on the Disk Management window and format it from there. You can try to recover your files using a data recovery program, using Google you can find several options. Check the link below for the steps to format your Passport.
