I just got a v2 8gb Sansa Fuze last month (brand new), and I’ve noticed its battery life seems to be lower than that of my e260 v1. I keep the brightness at the lowest possible and the backlight at a 15 second shutoff timer. I keep the volume at about 66% on HIGH volume, which is the same as I kept it on my e260. The majority of my library plays at 192kbps WMA, but about 1/10 plays at 256kbps MP3. However, I’d say my fuze gets quite a bit less time out of its battery (about 11 hours on a full charge compared to 17 on my e260). What I’d like to know is, does any one else experience this? Is this normal, or should I contact Sansa? Does its battery life improve over the first few weeks? I like my Fuze a lot, but I want it to be the best it can be.

I dont know the exact numbers but I can tell you that WMA OGG and FLAC do decrease battery life as it takes the processor more power to decode those extension. I would give it a few weeks and see if you notice a change, also make sure you have the newest firmware that helps too.
V2 Fuze, 20+ hours battery life here playing 192K MP3’s if that helps…
I’ve noticed shorter battery life on the V1 Revision Fuze, because it has been sitting on store shelves longer than V2 revsion Fuzes.

Just how many of these things do you have, to where you could make a blanket statement like this?
Unless you personally have bought at least 10 of each version from different retailers in different parts of the country (or world) and have upgraded all to the same exact firmware version, then subjected them to identical battery life tests playing identical files at the exact same ambient temperature, and have re-charged all of them after the exact same playing time for the exact same charging time, over and over again to eliminate any testing variations, I don’t see how you are in a position to claim this.
More likely you are assuming that because the Rev. 1 models came out before the Rev. 2 and you read somewhere that Li-ion or Li-poly batteries deteriorate from Day 1 whether they are used or not that this statement would be valid.
As Spock would undoubtedly say, “You’re logic is flawed.”
