Please HELP! Re- My Book Essential WD SMARTWARE does not back-up/remains in "Ready to back-up" mode

My My Book Essential comes with WD Smartware software:

After I press the “back up” tab it remains in “READY TO PERFORM BACK UP”
but remains static and does not back-up automatically (as it did before)

I cannot give the commant “Run Back up” (and did not have to before) but only the button “Pause back up”.

What can you suggest as its vital I back-up?

Have you try reinstalling the WD SmartWare. Visit the WD website and donwload the latest version of the application.
