Passport essential problems galore

Hi

I have a wd passport and it froze on me last week and I had to use a data recovery system to retreive the data, which I did.

When I tried to enter the passport  again, it accepted the password ok  and then a window appeared and said I had to format the disc before anything else, however this kept failing. I checked the size of the passport and it shows 931GB but it wont take me onto the next stage which is to view the files etc.

It also shows a drive F on my computer which only appears when I plug the passport in and I can not access that either

What can I do?

use a formatting tool to erase and test the drive

I have downloaded  the software and when I ran the setup , it shows a window to say that the process failed with an error code of 740?
