New my passport 3TB from the box doesn't apper to be recognized by the computer

Hello, I’ve purchased a new 3TB my passport HD. When I’ve attached it to the computer (windows XP) the device was installed, but I can’t see the drive nither in my computer nor in disk management. When I’ve checked the device manager I can see the WD My passport 25e2 usb device and WD SES device. when I check the device status it appear that the device is working properly. I’ve tried to update both drivers using the device manager with no success. Using the WD drive utilities the device is recognised by the software and it passes the complete drive test but I can’t have access to the device in my computer as mentioned above.
I’ve tried crating a support case with no reply.

Do anyone had the same problem regardinng windows XP?

i’ve tried windows 7 with success, but I need to backup a windows XP
computer, and It isn’t mentioned that it doesn’t support windows XP.

Windows XP doesn’t recognize the file format of the drive, exFat, nor will it recognize a drive that is over 2TBs. You will need to get a 2TB drive (or less) and make sure it’s formatted in NTSF. Then you will be fine.
