I had previously installed a Passport 500 GB portable drive on my Win XP system. Recently built a new system with Win 7. When I plug the drive into the USB 3 port in the new system, the drive is not recognized - no popup saying new hardware and doesn’t show up under Computer Management. I can plug the drive back into the XP machine and it reads it fine. What gives??
Hi, if you have a USB 2.0 port on the other PC try using it, if it is recognized check if you have any USB 3.0 driver updates available for the PC, also check if you have any firmware updates available for the my passport.

Heh. I can plug the drive into the USB 2 ports in the front of the Win7 machine and the drive does get detected and files readable. So it’s probably a USB 3 driver issue. Current driver is 6.1.7601.17514, dated 6/21/2006. I’m actually going to move this drive to another location, so I’ll check on this again later as needed.
