Never, ever, send in 2 returns in the same package - they lose stuff and say they didn't get it

Recently I had two different SD card failures, one a microSD and the other a standard SD card. I had two different support tickets and mailed the two cards in the same package along with two papers showing the two RMA #s.

After 2 weeks of shipping time & a response from SanDisk, 1 of the dead cards was replaced and the other was lost. SanDisk claims to have thoroughly investigated and alleges it was never received. Yeah, not possible.

Their directions do not indicate “DO NOT COMBINE MULTIPLE RMAs WHEN SHIPPING (we have no accountability or liability for anything additional items in the package)”. After multiple weeks and slow back-and-forth, SanDisk was unable to locate it. For a good-will gesture (I had to ask for something), they offered a whole 10%.

You can avoid this kind of mess by treating each RMA as a separate shipment, especially when the device contains data you cannot replace. Before mailing anything, you can photograph the cards, RMA paperwork, package contents and shipping label, then keep the tracking and delivery confirmation. If SanDisk confirms delivery but says one item was missing, you can also ask them to check the package intake records and recorded package weight, since that can help establish whether both cards were actually in the box.
