Need help with backup

  1. I would like to do 2 sorts of backup - 1 daily of documents - 1 weekly of pictures.

Seems I can only plan 1 sort of backup.

  1. I have planned a daily backup. After 2 days I looked at the backup.

Although in the settings it was set to keeping 5 backupversions I see only one.

Between backup 1 and 2 I moved a document to another map. In the backup it now exists on both locations.

So will deleted files/maps remain in backup???

  1. At the time of this post WD SmartWare only keeps one active backup schedule. It can be set for daily or weekly backups, but not for specific media. However, some 3rd party applications may allow you to copy your files as desired.

  2. The backup versions only apply to modified files. It will not re-copy files with no new modifications since the last backup. Also, the application does not delete files. If you copy a file to a different location the application will treat it as a new file and will copy it again to the corresponding location.

Hi Trancer - thanks for the help.

I have third party backup solutions but thought I might get rid of those.

As for the files/documents I moved. I have now seen that I made a mistake here.

I looked at the backup in the way I was used (explorer) with other backups. The moved items still show on the old locations but if you use restore the moved items are crossed out.
