Hi, i have a brand new WD My Passport 1tb external HD, and i am having a frustration on my transfer rate, i am currently transferring a 12Gb folder to my external and the rate is averaging from 50 kbps to 300 kbps. that’s super slow to what is advertise. i think i already troubleshoot it more than enough that i no longer know what to do. please help. =)…
im using a laptop( Asus N56j ativ) with usb 3.0 and running on windows 10,
what i already tried:
checking the policy of the drive
updating software
changing usb 3.0 to 2.0
changing usb 3.0 different cord
On and off
close other apps.
Changing usb ports…
And i tried the external hard drive on other system too and i also refresh the windows but the problem remains same… the files media file software pics etc but transfer rate is too slow
Well, there could be multiple reasons which you are experiencing the issue, Maybe the folder that you are transferring to the hard drive contains several data on it in a form of clusters which kills the data transfer rate. Try to transfer a single archive large file on the drive and check if it makes any change.
Moreover, you can also follow the steps mention below that may be useful for you.
Go to
Control panel
System and Maintenance
Administrative tools
Run services shortcut
Once the services program loads find the services called Background intelligent transfer service and stop it.
Also right click on the same service and click properties then
change the start value to manual or disabled this should also fix the
network problem and USB copy and paste problem.
