My Passport USB 3.0 disconnects/reconnects/disconnects...etc

I posted a query earlier and there seems to be others with the same issue.

Running Windows 7 Home Premium 32 bit fully updated

USB 3.0 card attached to PCIe x1 slot- drivers up to date

Drive works fine on USB 2.0 connection

Drive is visible in Explorer

USB 3.0 shuts down randomly and then reconnects. Asks me if I want to scan and fix errors and then shuts down and reconnects again. Will tell me I have to re-format the drive. If I try to transfer a file, it starts off at blazing speed for a few seconds then disconnects.

Could it be an issue drawing power from the MoBo? It has a 4 pin connector.  There doesn’t seem to be a way in device manager to adjust any power settlings.

Suggestions appreciated. Thanks.

Look in power management then in advanced power management and in disk management in the drive properties. Maybe there is something in one of those.

Hi Joe

Thanks very much for the suggestion. I checked a number of options under power management. I though I had solved the problem, but it re-occurred today.

I will keep scanning the posts for possible solutions.
