My Passport 3.0 500GB portable drive disconnecting problem

hello i have bought an wd my passport 500 3.0 portable drive and i have experienced some issues with it when i connect it on my usb 3.0 port it always disconnects then reconnects but when i tried connecting it on my usb 2.0 port it doesn’t ave a problem. i just have bought it on dec.22 201 can anyone please help me with this. 

BTW i am using a lenovo ideapad z400 laptop and i’m running on windows 8 singe launch.

Hi, check if you have the latest USB 3.0 drivers installed for your laptop, also avoid using extension USB cables or USB hubs, since these might cause power inconsistencies.
