My Passport Ultra is shown as offline in WD Back Up Plan

I have erased all files on My Passport Ultra and downloaded new software. When I go into my WD Back Up Plan the WD is offline even though it is plugged in. My Passport is viewable in the file manager as G:. In the Disk Management I can see it to be Ok (Active and Primary Partition). I am running Windows 8. Any ideas of what to do?
