My Passport Ultra 0830 not recognised by Windows 8

Hi

I have bitlocker on the My Passport device and when i plug it into my desktop it shows the disk as “system reserved”. I cannot seem to open the file on the desktop. The description under Disk Management shows the drive is "Healthy(System, Active, Primary Partition).
I do have a password to unlock the data, but at this stage I cannot access the drive on my desktop as it does not show up under my computer/this PC.
Any ideas how to go about fixing this?
I don’t want to reformat the drive.
I can see the drive under Disk Management, but I cannot even assign a drive letter for it…nothing happens when I click that command even though it is highlighted.
I am able to access the drive on another laptop, so the drive seem to be in working order.

Hi rolandbotes,

You can use cmd (Run as administrator) to unlock drive locked by bitlocker but you have to use recovery key (not password) with “-recoverypassword” keyword. Here are the steps:

  1. Go to C:\Windows\System32. Open “cmd.exe” as administrator [Right click, Run as administrator]

  2. Run command: “manage-bde –unlock E: -recoverypassword 111111-222222-333333-444444-555555-666666-777777-888888”

And the result should be:

BitLocker Drive Encryption: Configuration Tool version 6.1.7600
Copyright (C) Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved.

The password successfully unlocked volume D:(My Passport drive which is locked).
