My Passport SE (USB 3.0) works on PC not detected by mac

I have a NTFS formatted My Passport SE (USB 3.0). When connected to my PC it works fine. When I connect it to my mac the light goes on but is solid rather than flashing. The drive does not show in finder or the disk utility.

The mac is a Mac mini running the latest version of OSX Mountain Lion. I am pretty are the USB ports are giving enough power and the drive is not corrupt as it works fine under windows 7.

Any help would be really appreciated!

Additional info…

I connected the drive to my PC and updated the firmware to the latest version. Still not helped unfortunately.

Does it work when connected to the Mac on a USB 2 port? Make sure all of your Mac drivers are up to date.
