I just purchased a My Passport SE 750 GB external harddrive 2 weeks ago and have been using it just fine. I’ve been loading things onto it, accessing it, etc. Ever since yesterday, however, I connect it to my Mac, the light goes on but my computer never recognizes it. Has anyone had this problem or know how I can fix it?
You are experiencing the issue due to the files system, if the drive was working on a Windows based computer, it must be formatted NTFS and that is read only on Mac, I would recommend you if you want to use the drive on Mac to reformat it to Mac OS X or look online for NTFS 3G an application for Mac that allows you to work with drives formatted for Windows, bare in mind that format the drive will erase the files that are currently in the drive so you might want to save those files in another location before formatting.
I already reformatted it for Mac. I did that before uploading anything to it. Is there any other reason why it would stop working after previously working on my Mac?
