When I plug in my wd my passport external drive via the usb cable, the drive spins & the light blinks. After about 30 seconds the light stays on but the drive stops spinning. My PC then cannot find the drive. I have tried different cables & different computers with the same result. Any ideas , solutions or repair suggestions would be appreciated thx.

Does the computer make any sound to acknowledge that it has a USB device connected? Also would like to know what operating system you are using. This could be a defective unit.
Did your drive dropped before? What is your OS now? Window 10 / 8 / 8.1 / 7?
If Window 10, there have some updates on yesterday. I have updated my OS on yesterday.
Faced the issue same as you but unluckily my drive is corrupted so when i updated the OS just got a blank new drive instead of the 50% full hard drive (some important files and folders are stored in this drive). Sad when lose all this.

My Passport spins but will not open files when I enter my password to unlock. It unlocks.
No files. after it says do you want to Format your disk. I close that window.
I am also having the same problem can some one plz help for some reason it stoped working my computer showed a error my passport not accessible. data error (cyclic redundancy check )
