Hi Everyone,

Can someone help me on how to deal with this issue?

  • Already tried in two different laptops (windows and mac)
  • LED is NOT blinking
  • NO clicking sound
  • I can hear and feel something when touching the hard disk but not sure whether it is the spinning of the disk or fan (?).

Same problem. Out of nowhere, I get USB device not recognized. And it fails to install when hooked up. LED blinks when hooked up, I can feel it running smoothly. Then the LED goes off and I get the message USB device not recognized message.

Does it say BAD PCB as well in the device manager?

Don’t want to spend 800-1000 dollars for this just to do data recovery. And WD would just merely tell us to RMA the device without telling us if we want to retrieve our data… sigh.

Hi All,

Bought this product 3 months back . Even I faced the same problem and sent the drive for replacement. Its been a month and am yet to receieve the replacement and no solution for the problem too. Disappointed with the product.

The old ones are better (those with power supply and bigger enclosures)
