Hey everyone, i’m looking for a bit of help here. I know alot of others have posted about this issue however they all had a common OS using windows 7 while experiencing this connecting and disconnecting issue. I had a similar problem when i had windows 7 with my my passport 2tb drive, but i installed an updated driver and it worked just fine up until about a week ago when i upgraded to windows 8.1 and now the drive is constantly turning on and off rather rapidly.
again i can plug this same drive into any computer with windows 7 and it will work fine, but the minute it’s plugged into 8.1 it turns on and off like crazy. I have an alienware m17x r4 with all my ports being 3.0 capable and the cable for this hdd is 3.0. like i said it worked fine a week ago, still works fine. but the only thing that has changed has been my OS. anyone else having this problem or solutions? i have tried different drivers that others have suggested.
i have tried changing the power options on the device manager and nothing seems to be working. Alienware indicates it may be a bios issue and they are working on it. WD has no clue. Microsoft said to contact dell and dell has the latest drivers available hahaha. Just wondering what you all thought. Suggestions are appreciated.
