Hi every1 i was wondering maybe if any1 is kind enough 2 help me out with this small question … I have folders in the Hard Drive which contain lots of movies,music and photos n was wondering if i update the WD smartware update will it be deleted or will it be safe …

Updating the Smartware software will not affect what’s stored on the drive.
On the other hand, updating the drive’s firmware could possibly lead to corruption or other problems (although it’s very rare) so WD suggests having everything backed up before doing a firmware update.
