the microSDHC card spec allows for up to a 32 gig design.      Currently the largest memory card available is 16 GB from SanDisk.

Thanks a lot niko_sama,Just the answer i needed.

Thanks again.!

I wonder what the database refresh time would be with a 32GB card? lol

Let’s put it this way.  If I inserted my 32GB uSDHC card on a plane in Atlanta GA , I bet that the database refresh would complete just about the time the stewardess told me to turn off all electronic devices for approach into Huntsville AL.

And that would be a cute trick indeed since there is no 32GB Micro SDHC card yet. :stuck_out_tongue:

I know…I was just speculating on Marvin on how long a 32GB card refresh would take, seeing how long it takes now with my 8GB card :smileyvery-happy:

Note to self:

If and when I get a 32GB card, load up or make any changes at night just before I go to sleep. In the morning the database refresh oughta be just about done by the time I’ve gotten my shower and had breakfast!

:smileyvery-happy:

You guys think it will take that long? My 4 gig when its full takes 2.5 minutes. Did the math and it comes to 20 minutes. Not terrible if that means I have all 100,000 songs on my fuze. What Will be cruddy (I had to think about what the **Bleep** wouldnt change) is how long it takes to drag and drop or Sync 32 gig of music on a limited Speed USB port, even with 2.0 it could take hours, and more than that if you like to come on here when you add your music.

I’m in the middle of re-doing my Fuze’s contents, when I unplug it I will try to clock how long it takes to refresh…given approx 11.4 GB of usable memory, we’ll see what happens.

Completely re-loading almost 12 gigs of music? I’ll guess 30-40 minutes. I think it took about 20 min. (give or take) to copy my full 8GB card over to my new 16GB card last week when I got it.

And yes, CB . . . I was joking about the ‘overnight’ refresh. :smileyvery-happy:

I knew that you were kidding about overnight but I was serious about the reletive change. Do you really think it will take that much longer? I doubt it will, I am sure there is something that can be done either to the way the mtable.sys file is created or the amount of memory and power allotted for the refresh/

I’m not counting the time to physically put it on…I’m highlighting 4 or 5 artists at a time and dragging and dropping…then checking on it next commercial. I can only imagine if I calculated all that time too…lol

I can’t explain it…3:45 to refresh. 3.36GB on internal, 7.24 on external, total of 400MB still free. That’s faster than it refreshed earlier today when I added 4 friggin songs to it! That one was like over 5 minutes…so I have no explanation. Before I started, I formatted the internal, and selected all on the external card and deleted, so it was wiped clean. So why was this refresh faster?

Edit: if it matters…2,241 songs, which is about 100 more than earlier.

Maybe your Fuze is in a better mood tonight? Or perhaps its because it doesnt have to edit the mtable.sys file It onlly has to make a new one.

You know, I noticed there was still one that I could see in My Computer after the format…I didn’t know if I should delete it or not so I left it. The format I did was the Fuze one , before I ever plugged it in.

Sorry . . . my bad. I mis-read what you wrote. I now see you said “clock how long it takes to refresh”, not how long it will take to completely load the player and card.

Guess I’d better get my eyes checked. May be time for new specs.
