I am on an intel iMac running Tiger 10.4 and I have a number of these files “LaunchU3.exe” that I am sure are from using my 1.0gb cruzer Micro USB flash drive that I cannot trash. I hit apple I to open and get the info, went down and opened ownership and permissions, unlocked the file but it still will not delete in the trash. can anyone explain this and what I need to do to get rid of these files. thanks much.
try ctrl click then move to trash. once in the trash empty the trash. you will then need to reboot the mac or relaunch finder. then you should be good to go.
you should also look at the forum specific to USB drives and other sandisk products.
I was researching to figure out what this file was and I think you might find the answer to your question at this website: http://forums.techguy.org/hardware/534275-launchu3-exe.html I’m not very computer savvy but the 4 posts addressed the same problem about trying to unlock it to get rid of it on a MAC and she figured it out. Check the page out, hope it helps… if not oh well, no harm done!

U3 was dropped by SanDisk 3 years ago. If you just bought a new flash drive, it does not have U3 on it, nor can you install it on the drive.
