I cant get my sansa e280 to so anything

I have the sansa e280 - My computer cannot access it through “my computer” nor will it sync through windows media player. I get the “please free 6megs of memory message,” and any time i disconnect it from the computer it does a system restart. all my music is gone off of it, its completely blank and wont let me put anything on. The memory on the player states that it has 0 used memoroy and 0 available memory and its the 8 gig player. i think it just needs to be completely wiped out and reformatted like it came fresh from the factory. Ive been looking at links on this forum and saw one mentiontioning that if your player no longer works to download the driver tool from the link in the post. that link doesnt work. Is there any way i can be directed to the program that will make this player work again?

For just about the gagillionth time, read the FAQ. That  is  what it’s there for after all!

And if you want to format the player, first determine whether you have a v1 or v2 model; then use the Search function. There are different formatting procedures for each. And this too is already explained in detail in many, many posts already here.

All you gotta do is look.

iv looked all through the FAQ’s and cant seem to find the information i need -I could just be a moron and be looking at the process i need but just dont know that it is - I think the problem is that i reformatted the player using windows reformat. Im pretty sure it deleted some of the information the player needs to run. I know it deleted my memory because I have 0 available and 0 used. The player starts up and gives me the “6 meg” message but still will not sync or be reconized by the computer. I tried the setting the hold and holding the middle button - that made the computer reconize that it was plugged in but would not give me access and said i need to install the drivers for my “tango media device.”

Basically what i need is what ever program and the step by step process to basically return this player to the way it was the day it came out of the box. I think most of the FAQ post were all for processes for a player that is recoverable. im pretty sure mine is not and needs to be reformatted, reloaded or re-whatevered so its basically wiped clean and as if it was the day i bought it.

if there is anyway i can get this info and the step by step process i would appreciate it very much - refering me to the FAQs i think just made me further mess up the player

this is the v.1 player and my os is windows vista

thank you

The FAQ I referred to (and linked to) earlier is the one specifically for the “Free 6MB” message. Follow these instructions for using Recovery Mode to format and manually installing firmware on the v1 models.
