Can i use the passport to sync a table to my main computer so that saved documents are identical between the 2 computers?

Not sure that I understand your question correctly.
The WD Passport comes with a back software that will allow you to backup multiple computers, but it wont work as a synchronization software unless you are using a third party device and even that might not be possible since the sync process will be to mirrored what you have on the computer to the external drive.
What OS are you using? There was SyncToy for Windows 7 at MS.
