How to update Sandisk Extreme Portable SSD firmware on a Mac?

I boot my 2015 Intel iMac from a 500 GB Sandisk Extreme Portable SSD. Since the upgrade to v12 of the OS (Monterey) it take a long time to boot (30 mins).

It has been suggested that a firmware upgrade would help.

How do I do this on a Mac, a there is no version of Dashboard for Mac?

I went to the trouble of borrowing a Windows PC, after the S/N checker said my SSD “may need a firmware update”, but then the firmware update program said “Device is up to date”.

It would be great if there were some way to at least view the firmware version on a Mac!
