Horrible screeching sound when playing mp3.

Hello.

I’ve got a very strange problem with my Clip+ 8gb.

When I try to play mp3s on it I get an incredibly loud screeching sound, drowning out everything. I’ve tried both reverting to factory settings and formatting it, to no avail.

Stranger still is that I don’t get the screeching noise when I use the FM radio.

Anyone ever heard of this? I tried searching the forums but found nothing similar.

All mp3s or just some of them?   Could be bad or corrupted files, or else something wrong with the players DAC (the FM radio doesn’t go through the DAC since its an analog device).

It seems to be all of the mp3s, even those that have worked before.

I would try a wav file, then if that still doesn’t work its probably a broken device.

Yeah, a wav file made no difference.

I think I remember reading that someone had this problem when the comment field was filled in. Try getting rid of the comments. Make sure that your tags are otherwise okay.

WAV files don’t even have tags.
