Help! MyPassport 1 TB very very slow

Hi, 

I recently bought a 1TB WD MyPassport and put all my media on it. I removed the security files and accessory files that come with it because I did not want to deal with any of the security features etc…

It is now extremely slow less than 1 MB/sec transfer rates. I think it might be going into standby. I use it with a sony vaio and can not figure it out. I am not very technical and would be appreciate any help to get this improved.

Try the drive on a Desktop compuiter connecting the USB directly to one of the ports in the back of the tower and let me know the outcome.
