Help:my wd passport is not working

i am using wd my passport model no:WDBACY5000ABK-EESN 500 GB…now while plugging it to my lap its showing…“installing device driver software” and in that DISK DRIVE FAILED & WD SES DEVICE failed…am using windows 7 os…what to do ?can anyone help me with an answer…

Does it work with your desktop pc? If it does it  might be a power issue. You could contact WD to see if a power booster is required. 

If that’s not the case you can try :

  1. a different port on the laptop
  2. Uninstall and reinstall the drivers on device manager
  3. restart the computer and retry. 
  4. Check on Disk Management and see if shows unknown or unallocated
  5. Try updating Firmware and downloading drivers
