I have a 2tb My passport for PC which I was running on mac with no problem until today. I had some help with it in the past to run on mac, cant tell what it was but it was working ok in the past.
First the icons turned dark gray and I couldn’t copy stuff ON it, only to my mac. The unlocker icon also changed from a blue key to some icon of Text editor or something for no apparent reason - I still run Mojave. I read about an issue with unlocking and installed WD Security to change the password etc. and it seems to have corrupted something and ever since my passport wont even open the unlocker now. The lights keep flashing non stop, the drive is making sounds and can’t open or even eject the unlocker, basically no response.
If i go to disk utility, I can see “my passport” but grayed out and marked “not mounted”. If I wait long enough for WD Unlocker to run I just get an error message saying it “quit unexpectedly”.
I’m afraid there was some hack performed for it to run and god knows why it first started opening in read-mode only when i can’t copy files on it, and now seems to have gotten corrupted.
Any suggestions to what I can do now rather than recover my files? any advice appreciated.
