Hello community. There is already a thread on the fan management of the G-Raid Shuttle, but I’m surprised that so few people are responding to this issue.
The problem: the fan on the G-Raid Shuttle does not automatically stop when the computer is turned off, and according to support, a manual action like unplugging the power is necessary. I find this unacceptable, and I would like to know if every user of this model has the same issue ?
I’m looking at these drives, but I fear putting the money on these.
I hear a lot about the fan issue, but also about the whole DAS dying.
Also, Sandisk and WB are two entities now… but they share the G-Raid platform… so who is gonna fix the issues?
The first bad reviews are years old, but they still didn’t release a firmware update to fix.
My plan B is the G-RAID PROJECT 2, but I fear it has issues too.
Nothing has changed — support refuses to offer a real solution, only suggesting to unplug the cable, which is ridiculous. No firmware update seems to be planned, which is shameful for a RAID at this price. I ended up plugging the RAID into a smart outlet and wrote a Mac script that unmounts the drive and then turns off the outlet via Wi-Fi (ridiculous, but I had no other choice).
Did you test the Raid on Mac and PC?
Cause, if we could demonstrate it’s platform specific then it would shows it’s their fault… and MAYBE they would finally release a fix :o
