Fuze pre-sale question

Some of us have been around for a while and bought a lot of CD’s, and not everyone rips at 128kbps mp3, or 64kbps wma.

Turn shuffle on, and select Play All

Ha Ha … How true.  I have 4 or 5 TB of my music collection ripped into FLAC’s and I’m still not done with my entire collection… But, I’ve been collecting longer than a lot of the members here have been alive!!!

I wasn’t directly referring to you. That’s why I hate this forum, no one here can man up and say iPods ARE A GOOD PRODUCT. They are. I said it. I’ve never owned one and have always been a Sansa guy, but I’m not going to be a little fan boy and not say the competition puts out a good product. I hate Apple like you do not even know. They get away with murder with their computers priced at a grand each. How many people honestly want to research? Kids want what is cool, which is an iPod. I don’t just buy stuff, I look into it. Everyone buys JVC Gumy headphones too, but after looking into it, it’s not what I wanted. Also, you can’t play your PS2 when you are sitting in the park listening to music, by the way, so that’s a bad comparison. The iPod has stuff a Fuze will never have and it’s stuff that would be awesome to have, I don’t know why that’s so hard for you to admit. Someone’s a bit shy I guess. I have a PS3, but I wish there was something like Xbox Live for it since I hate lag, and I used to always hate on Xbox’s because they made you pay for online.

Also, the Fuze is much more glitchy and has less features than the iPod. When you are as big as Apple, you can charge those prices. I have never heard from my friends that they have freezing issues, or the volume jumps to max, etc. The Fuze has FM radio, which is cool, but if I wanted radio I’d buy a Walkman. Obviously, I bought it for the MP3 player, so if I’m sitting here with an iPod without radio, it’s not the end of the world since I was buying an MP3 player, not a radio. Also, the microSD slot adds width, and the new Nano can’t really spare that, and Apple does not make SD cards to my knowledge, so it’s understandable that they won’t put that in their product. They sell 16 GB players as it is, that’s pretty large. Or, just get a big iPod classic. As for the Fuze’s voice recorder, I’ve never used it. I don’t see why I would anyway, it didn’t make or break the deal. I like to just open up the Fuze’s music folder, open up my music folder, and drag it over. I don’t like to use a program, so if anything, that and price was the deal breaker for me. If you are spending $400 on headphones, price can’t be too much of an issue.

I don’t like to bash the Apples, they’re fine machines, but I am fond of the simplicity of the Sansa.  I’ve had several of the pods on the bench, pretty decent build quality, but they fall short of making my ears happy for the critical stuff.  You have plenty of encoding options with the Sansa, plus those big files are quite transportable via µSD card.

Breaking down an iPod, I am leery of the subassemblies and an abundance of flex ribbons in there.

The Shuffle has a wonderful case too.

I’ve been toying with the idea of retrofitting an iPod dock (there are zillions of options out there) to the Sansa standard AMP 30 pin.

Bob  :stuck_out_tongue:

I like how the new nano doesn’t have that cheap metal back plate, it’s just overall sturdy and nice. However, I think the actual wheel on a Sansa is just easier than the touch wheel on an iPod. I don’t even know how to convert from mp3s though, and if it’s even worth doing. I doubt many do it.

I also like the accelerated scrolling on the Fuze, I’m not sure that iPods have that.

And to GB and the others who agree with me…

You can say that all you want. Have a field day with it, but you can’t say you bought the clip for that reason if you are going to be using headphones like that out and about.

I was perusing another forums "portable gear " thread…here’s some examples…and I went with mostly Sansas…

Same headphones as my red ones^^^^

That’s cool. 99% of the people I know still use standard or under $25 in ear headphones.

Also, I really don’t understand the point of headphone amps. It’s not real convient to use when you are out and about.

A lot of cool gear there, Marvin…

Thanks for sharing the photos!!

PS. Us equipment “hogs” have got to stick together…:smileyvery-happy:

Mine are both smaller than a Fuze…hardly inconvenient

Could spend $400 on some 'Phones or you could buy a PS3. :robottongue:

But when you combine it with the Fuze, doesn’t seem like good pocket gear to me. What does it even do?

Which brings me back to my original point.  Not everyone wants the same things in this world…same goes with gear and player.  Your are basically saying that the only right way, is your way.  I have issue with that.  Just because you only think one player and one set of headphones is necessary, myself, Marvin and others will disagree.  That’s fine if you use your gear a certain way, but that doesn’t mean I have to use mine the same way you do.

As for a PS3; I would probably use it as a boat anchor.  I have no interest in that device, whatsoever.   Should I tell you that because I have no use for one, that you shouldn’t own one?

I’m telling you how I’d rather spend $400 since, and if you have a problem with that, tough luck. It’s cool though, more PS3s sell than $400 headphones. Too bad Sony MP3 players aren’t as good. The Walkman used to be the best thing on the block. I’m not sure what boat you’re going to anchor with a gaming console, maybe a toy raft?

You can’t tell me that’s not the sexiest piece of equipment you’ve ever seen?

No you were not.  YOu were telling the rest of us how to spend our $400… Big difference…

Yep, you’re exactly right. That’s exactly what I was thinking when I made my post. Sell them headphones and get your game on! :robothappy: Or use it as a Blu Ray player, doesn’t really matter to me. Use it as a music player for that matter if you want.
