The average person doesn’t do this, you must admit. I don’t see the need for more than one pair of headphones. I have 1 Fuze, 1 pair of JVC Marshmallow Headphones, and a Sillicon Case & Screen Protector coming in the mail soon (ordered off amazon the other day). The only other case of getting a second pair of headphones I can justify is that when I have the marshmallows in, I cannot hear anything around me, so I’d like to get a pair of JVC Gumy headphones so when I’m out with people, I can listen but still here them. Most people use their players at night or when they aren’t doing anything else, they don’t sit their and appreciate music quality and whatever, which is why you have all those headphones I’m guessing. I doubt you walk around with the street with those things on your head. Oh, and if you do, then you aren’t allowed to say you bought the Clip because it’s smaller and more portable.

I have 5 sets of head phones for 3 different players. All of which serve a different purpose. 2xc(1 for Fuze and 1 for Connect) SkullCandy IEM for when I am out and about and running. 1 Set Sansa Factory Stock (The ones from the Clip) for the fuze that get used in bed. 1 Set Shure SCL-5 Clear, for the Clip which I wear to meetings and formal settings. 1 set SkullCandy SK Pro for the Connect when I travel. I have my slotmusic player hooked to the Sterio in my office.
I better not post a picture of all the headphones I have…I don’t think they would fit in one picture…and that includes my babies: the Grado GS1000’s!!!:smileyvery-happy:
The stock buds feel horrible when I’m laying on my side in bed. All ear buds like that don’t feel good to me when in bed, except the JVC Marshmallows. They go in your ear so when you are laying on your side, they don’t push against your ear really, from personally experience anyway. Maybe I can see the SMP being used in that scenario, since I don’t think there is really a shuffle all songs option on a Sansa Player, and you don’t want to keep scrolling through for songs or whatever. As for the headphones, I still feel like one pair is sufficient for the average user, especially since the Clip & Fuze have custom EQ settings which you can really make good use of.
I can’t justify paying $300+ for headphones, no matter how you put it. The only ones that sell for that much are always the huge ones, and obviously if you are out with friends in a restraunt or something, it looks kind of silly. Anyway, I can justify getting the Bose in ear ones, just because of how long they last and how good they sound and are like $100, from what I heard anyway, and you could use them anywhere. I’d think about investing in them, I’d like to try them in person though but I don’t know anyone with them.

I agree for the most part but the ones that came with my dads clip (he gave them to me cause he has a set of KOSS that he wears) are actually pretty low profile, and are more comfortable than most. I was supprised by this, and since they are not great for isolation, I can hear the alarm clock, and fire alarm.
Thanks Conversion Box, Marvin_Martian and all others. I ended up with the 8GB Sansa Clip. Funny how I wasn’t paying attention to them at the store yesterday, and to be honest I didn’t think they’d still be available a month after the clearance price started. One Wal-Mart had none, the other had like 20 or so, LOL!
I understand the benefits of the Fuze, but 8GB for $50 and a player that I’m used to is hard to beat. Technically I have about 20GB of music but I’ll just put my favorites and podcasts on the Clip.
I may end up with a second player in the future to hold all of my music, and that second player may end up being a smart phone, who knows? But for now, I have what I need.
Now I need to find a protective case for it, which I didn’t get for the first one. Any suggestions?

My Shure SCL-5 cost 400. They are IEMs, And They are clear, so you cant see them. So they work awesome in a formal setting. Those Bose are really nice I wish I had seen them before I bought the SkullCandy IEMs. If you can fine a BOSE store (There are a few in some malls around me) they usually have them and you can try them out.

Might want to go to the Clip board for that one. It’s a good deal, it still amazes me how people have that much music, especially if they legally purchased it. I don’t have a clip as well because I wouldn’t clip it to my pants or whatever and the clip would probably break in my pocket or something. You can probably just take it off though, but then there’s really no point in upgrading from the m240 at all except for more space, since they both have OLED screens I think.
I just can imagine it being worth $400 though. How much better could they honestly be to make it worth it? I use my Fuze a decent amount, but I mean not a whole lot. Usually I use it every night and then during the day sometimes as well, it’s only like 1-2 hours a day, or less.

Also, if I did buy $400 headphones, those would be the only things I use for sure since they would obviously be the best.

Their primary use is by musicians on stage in live concets. I use them for that too, but they spend more time on my clip.

Well, I never wanted to be average. The average person buys an iPod. ![]()
But on a more serious note, different headphones for different purposes come into play. None of them sound exactly alike… some are more suited to particular kinds of music than others, the set with the 10-foot cord(back left) isn’t suited for walking about, but they sound great and allow me to watch movies anywhere in the bedroom.
The black pair front and left are the beaters, they never sounded that great, so they’re for podcasts and bedtime use, so if I was to break them in my sleep it would be no great loss, but I haven’t yet. They were the first pair I got to replace the Sansa buds, and I frequently wore them out and about, walking through town…just had to look around a lot when crossing the streets.
The smallest ones, on the right, I wear out and about, they are an open design that lets me still hear my surroundings. The red pair, I just got the other day, and I can’t hear anything else but the music when I wear them. But I just got them the other day, so the opportunity has not come up to wear them anywhere. But all about the house and yard, they’re great…cord length is just right. Also, I didn’t know headphones could push the low bass these things produce.
And why can’t I say that the Clip is more portable? Clip clips to shirt pocket, amp sits in bottom of shirt pocket, headphones go on head. If you want to be the average user, more power to ya…but I’m not average and I don’t want to be
And to GB and the others who agree with me…

I’m aware of that, which is why I say “average user” a lot of the time.

I dont do that even though it makes sense, because of the cost I cant afford to replace them very often, and there is too much of a chance that in an everyday setting they would get broke.

You can say that all you want. Have a field day with it, but you can’t say you bought the clip for that reason if you are going to be using headphones like that out and about. The average person does buy an iPod. If you walk into Best Buy, they have their own station set up for iPods, then a shelf with a bunch of other stuff no one has heard of. Ever see a Sansa commercial? I haven’t. So, if you have never heard of a product, why buy it? I can’t blame people for just getting iPods in this scenario, althought Zune has some commercials advertising it. I got the m240 when the iPod wasn’t “incredibly amazing.” I never heard of SanDisk really, but I only needed about a gig and it got the job done. Then, when I was going to upgrade, I looked into my options carefully. The Fuze was only $50 on Black Friday, perfect price, and it did what I wanted it to do. iPods are great. They have better firmware, and the stock buds are much better. Can we not say that? It does stuff the Fuze does not do, and some of it’s pretty cool. Landscape, coverflow, games, etc. No physical wheel either. That’s all nice and all, but then let’s get down to why I went with the Fuze. It’s cheaper, comes in smaller sizes which is what I wanted, has a microSD slot in case I run out of room, supports video and pictures, has FM radio, has a voice recorder, and these things are more important to me than what the iPod offers. I could use an iPod and be perfectly happy though. I can live without the radio, and I can live without the voice recorder and microSD slot, but then I’d be like everyone else. Once you go with a brand, you stick with it if you do not have problems with it. I owned a PS1, it was awesome, so I got a PS2, and then a PS3. Why switch to Xbox when a Playstation is better and has always been good to me? I’ve never had a problem with the two Sansa players I have owned, so I’m not going to stop buying Sansa Players. Although, I owned a Coby Flash Drive/MP3 player once. That thing was a piece of trash, :robotvery-happy:.

Thanks, I’ll definitely check out the Clip board, of course.
I accumulated >400 CDs back n the day, and trust me, it’s easy to get to 20GB with legally acquired music. I used to have an Archos GMini XS200 and had to sacrifice a few CDs because not all of them fit in the player.
I’ve gotten rid of 20-30 CDs though, as some music sounded dated. If I had to do it all over again, I’d probably have closer to 100 CDs.

I most certainly can say I bought the Clip for that reason, I said it in the previous post, and I say it again!
I saw the iPod station at BB the other day. Did you ever consider they can afford to advertise their devices because of how much more they charge for their products? ![]()
I had never heard of Sansas last summer when I decided I wanted an MP3 player. I researched prices while I was saving up, and I looked at iPods first, because my sister has one. Then I saw what they wanted for the stupid shuffles…and I used “the Google” and discovered that I could get a 4GB Fuze for the price of the 2 GB shuffle…and the rest is history. So don’t tell me if I never heard of it I wouldn’t buy it. :stuck_out_tongue:
And the iPod…you keep mentioning features the nano has when you refer to them, but that is an invalid comparison. The cheapest one is $150 for an 8GB…not expandable. Coverflow? So what? Games? I have a PS2 for that…and games on my cell phone that I never play. The only one you should be comparing to a Fuze is…wait for it…the shuffle, which doesn’t even compare to the Clip!
For the cost of a nano, I got…4GB Fuze, 8GB microsdhc, screen protector/skin/chargers, and 2 pairs of headphones that don’t sound like a clock radio stuck in my ear.
