Folder View? The Clip already has one!

Many of us have clamored for a folder view option, until Sansafix let us know that, due to memory constraints, we weren’t likely to ever get one. But actually, we already have one, even two: the Audiobooks and Podcasts folders. Think of it: if you create a Gym folder inside the Audiobooks folder, it does appear as a subfolder under Audiobooks when you use the Clip! So it shouldn’t be too difficult to add a My Folders folder to the clip, similar to the Audiobooks folder with only the following differences:

  1. The “next track” and “back track” functions should be unabled.
  2. The “resume” function should be disabled.

Basically, creating such a My Folders folder should be easier than it has been for SanDisk’s hardy programmers to create the Audiobooks and Podcasts folders, and it would allow for both an ID3 tags view and a folder view to harmoniously coexist within the Clip, rather than having to switch between two “separate” operating systems – something that the Clip’s memory constraints make impossible anyway.

(It would also be good, however, if files could be played in alphabetical order by default, in these folders, instead of being played in the order they were loaded into the Clip as is currently the case with the Audiobooks folder.)

The folder doesn’t show if it is empty, but it shows otherwise, at least for me. It shows as a subfolder inside the Clip, though its name is lost: it shows as “Unknown” (if it doesn’t contain a file with tags, which then decide of its name) but you can still access this “Unknown” folder and get a list of the files, in the order they were transferred.
