Fixing damaged partition map. The operation couldn't be completed. (com.apple.diskmanagement error 5. Operation failed

I can’t do automatic backups to Time Machine anymore. I receive the error message:
“Unable to complete backup. An error occurred while creating the backup folder.”

I’ve run Disk Utility which gives me the following: “Fixing damaged partition map. The operation couldn’t be completed. (com.apple.diskmanagement error 5. Operation failed.”

It means your hard drive’s partition is corrupted. Try formatting your hard drive completely in the Partition Tab within Disk Utility in order to create a fresh file system.

Is there problem if i can’t formet it

Have you sorted this out? If you want, try these steps to see if the issue can be fixed:

  1. RunTerminal to fix the partition map (If Terminal fails to fix the partition map, use First Aid feature in Recovery Mode to fix the SSD).
  2. Shut down your Mac, boot into Recovery Mode, then erase your disk in Disk Utility again.
  3. Run Terminal to erase your SSD in Recovery Mode. If you are not sure how to do it, check out this related guide - How to Fix ‘Couldn’t modify partition map’ on Mac (69874 & 69803)
