I have been having the “missing memory” problem too. Deleted almost half of the tunes and was still showing only 17MB remaining. Running Apple’s Disk First Aid utility brought back 761MB with no re-format required!
This is a disc utility for a Mac hard drive?

Where is this utility located?
The disk utility is part of the OSX package. There must be a similar program for Windows…
I was all set to reformat the drive and thought it couldn’t hurt.
