Faulty 128GB SDXC Extreme Pro / Ultra SD cards

Is there a known issue going on with SanDisk SD cards? I have bought 2 separate SanDisk 128GB SDXC memory cards, one Ultra and one Extreme Pro. Upon inserting them into my Nikon Coolpix P500 it says “this card cannot be used”. I tested them in a Kodak PixPro AZ421 after that, which prompted me to format the card, and when I tried that it just gave me “card error!”.

I THEN bought an SD card reader, put it in and checked it for faults on my PC, also did a proper format on there. No faults apparently. Still no dice. I can move files to the SD card fine, everything on the PC works fine but just not on cameras. According to the manuals of both cameras, and this has been confirmed through tech support, that they ARE compatible.

Both cameras also read other cards fine. Is this a known issue with SanDisk SDXCs? I know there’s other recall stuff floating about for them but the Western Digital tech support guy was just as baffled as I was.

Hi @PetrichorCrown ,

Have you opened a Support Case? If not opened, for more information, please contact the SD Technical Support team for best assistance and troubleshooting:

Seems like a compatibility issue. Try Formatting the cards on the computer using the FAT32 file system (older cameras can have issues with exFAT). Also, try updating the firmware to make sure you are on the current version.
