Extreme Pro SSD 2TB excessively hot when connected to Mac Book Pro M2, MacOS 14.4.1 while not in use

Hi Guys,

My 2TB Extreme Pro SSD drive (SDSSDE81-2T00) gets excessively hot while connected to my 13" MacBook Pro M2 running MacOS 14.4.1 even though there is no application reading the drive.

Can not seem to find any answers/fixes to this issue or why this is happening.

Any Ideas?
