Hey guys, recently i (actaully this morning) i dropped my friend 2TB Passport Ultra (thanks to free hdd case from wd), It hit the floor from about 90-100 centimeters. The Enclosure was open, and the drive come out. Then i put it back, close the enclosure, and connect it to my computer, the drive still detected, i copied some important data and plug it out (the copy speed about 80-90MB/s from usb 3.0 into WDC Blue). just to make sure, i connect it again, and still detected, my question is :
- I can see that the drive still working and detected. But, do i need to take it too service center for a proper check ? since as what i know, hard drive are made from mechanical things, even though it’s still working and external hard drive made to be shock tolerance, it really bother me if there’s some part that come off from it’s place, or move even a little bit, that can gradually damage the drive. After copy the data, i’m not gonna use it for make sure that it’s really safe to use it again
Additional note : i never worry about external hdd before, so i dont know is this normal or not. I touch the drive while copying the file, and i felt like some shock (its like a wooden board being hit by hammer very slowly).
Thank you guys for all of your help and response
