Why am I only being offered a refund under the SN510 drive warranty? I bought the drive in January 2023 for a price that was THREE times less than what it costs now! Not only did I lose all the data on it, but now WD/SanDisk is brazenly denying me the opportunity to buy the same drive—and they aren’t even offering a replacement of equal value! I consider this a direct deception of the customer! This concerns warranty case RMA/XK/PL/26/9433415, for the record.

SanDisk may, at its option, either: (1) repair or replace the Product with a new reconditioned or refurbished Product of equal or greater capacity, or another equivalent product; or (2) refund the current market value of the Product at the time the warranty claim is made to SanDisk if SanDisk is unable to repair or replace the Product.
If your faulty product now costs 3 times more than you paid for it, SanDisk is legally bound to refund you 3 times what you paid.
The key point missing here is whether WD/SanDisk can offer an equivalent replacement instead of refunding the 2023 purchase price. I’d ask them to explain in writing why a comparable drive is unavailable and which warranty term allows a refund when replacement is not offered. If the lost data is important, consider Stellar Data Recovery before sending the drive back.
