Seems like the photos have been overwritten. The photographer must have got the notification of insufficient memory or the camera may have asked to format. You can try some recovery tools like Stellar or DMDE, it can attempt to find the photos which are not visible not been overwritten.

Try using different SD card recovery software. Sometimes, different tools can recover files that others cannot. If you’re unable to recover them with professional data recovery software, consider contacting professional data recovery services. They have specialized tools and expertise to recover data from damaged or corrupted storage devices.

Have you recovered the lost files? What did the SanDisk recovery software display after scanning? Was it able to detect the photos captured with your Canon R camera?
First, restart your computer and reconnect the SD card to check whether the missing files become visible. You can also run the Windows CHKDSK utility to scan and repair the SD card, as this tool is often helpful for fixing minor file system errors or logical corruption.
If the files are still missing, consider using a different data recovery program to perform a thorough (deep) scan of the SD card. This may help locate additional recoverable data. Generally, if the lost files appear in the scan results, there is a strong chance they can be successfully restored. Clone the card to an image file on your HDD, and then run data recovery software against the clone.
